Straight Point
The headland swim east of Sandy Bay. Open water, big views, respect the current.
Straight Point is the headland beyond Sandy Bay. Swimming or paddling around it is one of the best open-water missions on this stretch of coast, with cliffs, caves and the whole of Lyme Bay opening up in front of you.
It is an exposed bit of coast. Go on a calm day, around slack water, with a tow float and a buddy, and check whether the Royal Marines are using the range on the point. Episode four of Edge Exe-plores follows the swim.
Watch it: Straight Point swim.
