      Why we stock it

Eyes on the water, glare off it.

Jim Jannard founded Oakley in 1975 with a motorcycle grip and a few hundred dollars, and moved into eyewear because nothing on the market survived the abuse athletes gave it. The Eyeshades of 1984 were the first proper sports sunglasses, and the company has spent the years since obsessing over lenses: impact resistance, coverage, and Prizm tints that pull detail out of specific environments, including water.

On the Exe, glare is the enemy. Reading a gust line or a swell as it stands up is far easier through a polarised lens that was designed for exactly that, and a frame that stays put when you fall off.

We keep a selection of Oakley sunglasses and goggles in the shop. Try them on with your helmet or cap, because that is how you will actually wear them.
